DAVINCI RESOLVE from BLACKMAGIC DESIGN is also high on the list of Southeast Asian facilities with RESOLVE MAC, with the RESOLVE CONTROL SURFACE, being sold to Color Resolve (Bangkok) and Pyramid Post (Jakarta)

The Media Village has supplied its' first EDITSHARE solution since signing up as a reseller, to New Creation Church in Singapore. The solution integrates a 32TB XSTREAM SERIES into their existing shared storage infrastructure, and is configured to handle multiple live-recording streams in HD resolution as well as editing across multiple FCP editing suites.

We're seeing an increased interest in our stereoscopic solutions, not only in the commercial market but in education as well. Many schools are now looking at incorporating stereoscopy into their curriculum. Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Film & Media Studies leads the way with their recent purchase of 16 OCULA licenses.

DaVinci Resolve Version 7 is the product that probably best examplifies the theme of our upcoming roadshow, "A New Era in Post Production", where affordable tools with high-end features and break-through performances are changing the landscape of post production as we know it.

The DaVinci brand has always been associated with high-performance and high-quality but for a long time, also known for its' high price tag. When Blackmagic Design took over the development of the product last year, many anticipated dramatic changes to be made. They weren't disappointed, when, at NAB this year, it was announced that the DaVinci Resolve would be available for the Mac, starting at a price of US$995.

To start, users may configure DaVinci Resolve on a Mac Pro with a Tangent Wave panel.  More advanced colorists would want to work with the Resolve Control Surface, which works seamlessly with the software. For more demanding applications (2k, 4k or 3D stereoscopic) where multiple Nvidia GPUs are required, users may configure a Linux-based system.

What's important to note is that it's the same software that is delivered on both the Mac and Linux platform, with no difference in features. So the same feature set that is available to the colorists for Avatar, Hurt Locker or Quantum of Solace, is available to every Mac-based DaVinci Resolve user.

DaVinci Resolve Version 7 finally began shipping few weeks ago and we're happy to be demonstrating it as part of our upcoming roadshow, with experienced colorists Warren Eagles (in Singapore, KL and Jakarta) and Giles Livesey (Bangkok and Manila) driving the demos. We will also be giving away a copy of DaVinci Resolve Mac software worth US$995 in each city, in a lucky-draw at the end of each seminar.

Also featured at the seminar is Nuke and Nuke X from The Foundry, the world's most powerful node-based compositing software. Nuke is used extensively in all the main visual effects houses, such as ILM, Digital Domain, Weta, Double Negative and many more. Increasingly, Nuke and Nuke X are being used for commercial work as well and we'll be highlighting this aspect at our seminar.

If you haven't already registered for our seminar, please do so online.

FACILITIES ADD 3D STEREOSCOPIC CAPABILITY - Cinered ID in Jakarta and R.S. Video & Film Productions in Manila extend their visual effects capabilities by purchasing Ocula from The Foundry. OCULA is a unique collection of plug-in tools that solve common problems with stereoscopic imagery, boost productivity in post production, and ultimately help to deliver a more rewarding stereoscopic viewing experience.

Underground Logic in Manila are the first DaVinci Resolve Mac user in Southeast Asia with the new Resolve Control Surface. "Ever since we got our BMD Resolve system, our clients have had a more pleasant experience with our color grading sessions", said Adrian Tecson, Managing Director/Director for Post-Production at UGL.

"Aside from several key features like pinpoint tracking accuracy and direct RED R3D import, the speed of the Resolve has been outstanding. The colorists spend more time creating and less time rendering, which is great for the overall speed of our workflow. The new Resolve panel is great as well, as it is both extremely functional, as it is sexy as the centerpiece of the suite"

Optima Digital in Manila have upgraded their DaVinci Resolve system to the new 4GPU Linux hardware and the RED ROCKET card, accelerating their realtime R3D capabilities and effective making their grading room the fastest in the country. A recent benchmark test indicated 10 to 20 nodes in realtime at Full-Res Premium (4k) resolution.

Home to some of the most experienced colorists in the highly competitive Manila post-production market, Optima Digital has also upgraded their software to the latest Version 7. They have also added a second Resolve Mac system, which is used as an assistant station to the main DaVinci Resolve suite.

New DaVinci Resolve Mac systems have been installed at Hang Meas in Cambodia and Zoom in Vietnam, the first in these respective countries. New setups also at Outpost and Giant Sponge Digital in Manila as well as Zealots in Bangkok and Edit Lounge in Singapore. All these systems are configured with the Tangent Wave panel.
